What is an industrial central vacuum system for cleaning?
A high-vacuum suction system used by factory workers for cleaning production halls. The size of the industrial vacuum cleaner and the vacuum pump are designed according to the client's process requirements, which define the number of endpoints operating simultaneously and their location in the factory. The number of endpoints working simultaneously and their location in the space determine the system's flow rate and the required pressure drop. Suction systems can range from a single endpoint to systems with 500 endpoints, with 10 endpoints operating simultaneously.
Which factories use central vacuum systems for cleaning?
- Mineral manufacturing plants, such as cement and gypsum plants.
- Process and chemical plants for the production of fertilizers, additives, and powders.
- Food processing plants.
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing plants.
- Defense industry facilities.
What are the components of industrial vacuum systems?
Industrial vacuum cleaners for high-vacuum cleaning are built around SIDE CHANNEL BLOWER vacuum pumps for low-flow systems, and lobe-type vacuum pumps for high-flow systems. The pumps are installed in acoustic enclosures equipped with reactive silencers for low frequencies.
The pumps are connected to a filter with automatic compressed-air cleaning, using either bag filters or cartridge filters, depending on the type of material being extracted and filtered. In many systems, it is highly recommended to also install a HEPA safety filter in order to prevent particles from reaching the pump, since the pump impellers are sensitive to particulate contaminants, which may cause imbalance and vibrations that can damage the pump.
In dust-intensive applications, it is also recommended to install a primary cyclone pre-separator in order to prevent rapid clogging or wear of the main filter, which would otherwise lead to high maintenance costs.

Common mistakes
- The most common and serious mistake is using centrifugal blowers for dust extraction. Centrifugal blowers cannot generate the required vacuum, making it impossible to use specialized end-use tools due to their high pressure drops. This causes cumbersome operation and severe inconvenience for system operators.
- Using large-diameter flexible suction piping. When piping exceeds 2–3 inches in diameter, operation becomes uncomfortable for the user, who may prefer not to use the system.
- Errors in calculating pressure drops. This leads to low suction levels and clogged piping. Most industrial vacuum system failures are caused by mistakes of this type.
