Senior Management
Since 1951
1951
Ventilation & Engineering Ltd. was founded in 1951 as A. Grabovitz Ltd. by Mr. Imre Grabovitz, born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1904. A highly skilled technician, he became a successful industrialist in the 1930s, establishing a hat and leather factory in Budapest that employed about 400 workers. He survived World War II in Nazi concentration and labor camps. After the war he rebuilt the factory, but with the rise of communism his property was nationalized, forcing him to leave Hungary. In 1948, he immigrated to Israel with his family and settled in Haifa. After several years, he founded a workshop for manufacturing industrial fans and blowers at 16 Yavne Street. The company invested in sheet-metal machinery for mass production of forward-curved centrifugal fans, supplying defense industries, government institutions, and Histadrut-owned factories. In the 1960s, it expanded into backward-curved pressure fans and full ventilation projects from design to execution.
1973
In 1973, the company was renamed Ventilation & Engineering, and Amos Garbovits joined, leading its expansion into filtration. He developed DUST-TEC systems for dust extraction in woodworking factories, responding to growing awareness of respiratory risks from wood dust. In 1975, the company moved to the Blu-band facility in Haifa, allowing production of larger, more complex systems, including high-pressure backward-curved centrifugal fans, radial and multi-stage fans, and material handling fans made of steel, stainless steel, PVC, and PP. Advanced cartridge filtration systems were also introduced, replacing the previously common bag filters in industrial production.
1981
The 1980s saw major advances in production processes with the gradual adoption of CNC cutting and bending technologies, recruitment of skilled production staff and engineers, and the shift to computerized engineering design. These growth drivers, combined with intensive marketing efforts—including new catalogs and major trade show appearances—enabled the company to expand its capabilities and sales, executing complex projects in process plants in the south, mineral factories, defense industries, steel and plastics sectors, agriculture, and woodworking industries.
1991
The 1990s and 2000s marked a major leap forward for the company with full adoption of advanced CNC technologies, laser sheet cutting, and CAD-based design. In 1997, the company moved to its current facility, expanded international partnerships, increased trade show presence, and recruited skilled engineers in sales, execution, and design. These steps enabled larger-scale production and execution of some of the country’s biggest projects. Numerous engineering upgrades allowed specialization in the chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Innovations included the efficient Vortex system for metal and chemical filtration, second-generation cartridge filters with ROTARY JET cleaning, advanced scrubbers for gas filtration, activated carbon systems, industrial vacuum solutions, and custom blowers made from specialty metals (Titanium, HASTELLOY, Super Duplex) and PVDF for process industries.
2010
In 2010, the third generation joined the company, marking a full generational transition across all departments. Knowledge transfer, recruitment of new staff, and implementation of more efficient workflows were combined with new IT systems, full adoption of 3D design in SOLID, and upgrades to production, operations, and procurement processes for faster, more efficient, and higher-quality work. During these years, the company executed some of Israel’s largest projects, including complete manufacturing plants under design-build methods. Upgrades included third-generation cartridge filters for longer life and higher filtration efficiency, advanced solvent oxidation systems, and explosion- and spark-proof blowers in steel and plastic. Significant efforts were also made in system documentation and standardization, preparation for global expansion, development of detailed catalogs, and training engineering firms in industrial ventilation and filtration system design.
